Are you looking for the perfect gift for the flower lover in your life? Whether it’s Christmas, Valentine’s Day, or just because, we’ve got you covered! In 2017 we are offering a subscription for beautiful, fresh flowers, as a CSA. This is our first year offering this, and Megan is very excited to bring a floral CSA to Pictou County!
What is a CSA?
CSA stands for 'Community Supported Agriculture'. Essentially, you are purchasing a subscription for our flowers in advance of the growing season. This purchase helps us plan for the season ahead-with everything from seed purchases, to adding or repairing infrastructure (such as irrigation). In 2017 we are looking to add some more irrigation to expand our growing area, and expand our perennial cutting beds. In a sense, you are sharing the risks associated with farming, including unpredictable weather, as well as the rewards of a bountiful harvest. You’ll gain a new appreciation for seasonal flowers, learn about some plants you haven’t seen before, and enjoy unique floral designs.
What are my options for 2017?
You pick one month (July, August, or September). Then, choose whether you want a bouquet or bucket subscription. Bouquets will be large, beautifully arranged, and picked just for you. Buckets will contain a coordinating mix of flowers and foliage to create your own designs. This option is perfect for gardeners who find it painful to take shears to their own gardens, restaurants, shops, etc. Each of these options runs for four weeks. The total cost is below. We have not settled on a pick-up day or location, but we will let you know in the spring.
How much does it cost?
Bouquet option: $90, tax included ($110 with delivery)
Bucket option: $160, tax included ($180 with delivery)
Yep. Megan is happy to arrange local delivery. If your location is between Hopewell and New Glasgow, we can drop off your subscription!
What do I have to do?
Megan is keeping it simple. Once you have signed up and sent your payment you just have to pick up your subscription on the pick-up day. If you are not going straight home, you should bring a jar or vase for your bouquet (heat is one enemy of vase life!). If you have a bucket subscription, bring back your bucket from the week before. If you are not available, you can make arrangements for someone else to pick up your flowers.
How long will my flowers last?
Megan does her best to use flowers with a 5-7 day vase life, but many will last longer with proper care. There are a few, like dahlias, that may not last as long but we try to take that into account when designing bouquets.
What about refunds?
We do not offer refunds for floral subscriptions, except in extreme circumstances, but we can offer a credit. Please contact us if you have concerns. We will do our best to make it right.
How do I sign up?
Just use the contact form on our website, or send us a message on social media, and we will take it from there!
